Incoming First-Year Students
All first-year applicants are automatically considered for admission to the Muriel A. Howard Honors Program. Decisions are based on a holistic review of the application including high school GPA, extra curriculars, leadership, writing ability, and promise of contribution.
- About the top 15% of academically prepared applicants were offered a spot in Honors last year
- These students had at least a 91% high school GPA
Applicants typically receive an email invitation to join the Honors Program 2-3 weeks after they receive their Buffalo State decision letter. The email invitation includes a link to your Applicant Portal. From that portal, click on the Muriel A. Howard Honors Program Reply Form and OPT-IN. If you have not yet viewed your decision letter, please do that first.
The priority deadline to secure your spot in the Honors Program is May 1st.
