Buffalo State's Muriel A. Howard Honors Program offers academically challenging opportunities for high-achieving and intellectually committed undergraduate students.
Honors students engage in special seminars and receive individual attention from dedicated, highly qualified faculty members.
Our student scholars enjoy an exhilarating academic journey of shared intellectual and creative pursuits, scholarship, and service learning, both in and outside of the classroom.
Honors regularly sponsors activities on and off campus exclusively for our honors students. In the 2019 -2020 school year our Honors students participated in:
3rd Annual Welcome Back BBQ - Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 4-6 pm in the Student Union Quad. Great food, games, give-aways and fun!
Babel Literary Series - Honors Program students visited Kleinhans Music Hall on Wednesday, Oct. 16 for a talk by N. Scott Momaday, author of House Made of Dawn and on Thursday, Nov. 14 for a talk by Valeria Luiselli, author of Lost Children Archives. The books were required reading in several of the Honors classes.
7 Habits of Highly Effective College Students - students participated in a two-day workshop providing 7-habits skills in November.
FourSight and Thinking Styles - students had an opportunity to "escape" our meeting and explore their thinking styles in February.
